Historical negationism is the distortion

negationism is the distortion of historical knowledge, where unjustified
historical knowledge is deemed factual. One example of negationism is the Rape
of Nanking, where Japanese war crimes that occurred during World War II were
concealed. The Rape of Nanking is where the Japanese army engaged in brutal and
heinous acts against the Nanjing population, including theft, mass murder, and
mass rape. This event was acknowledged by the Japanese government, however,
there has been several attempts to lessen the severity of these acts by
accusing China of producing false statistics regarding the massacre. The Japanese
have also attempted to further conceal this event by omitting language
conveying this historical event in textbooks.
