Abstract: The connector is something which has remained
unchanged for decades, unlike almost every other aspect of mobile and other computer hardware
design. The designers of the product often struggle
with the metal connectors which are very delicate to meet the present-day
requirements like sleek structure and better appearance. Also, the EMI, ASD and
RFI design issues have gotten worse due to additional requirements like high
communication speeds. Even though, these problems were resolved some extent by
the advent of the wireless communications but new problems were added such as
cost, antenna design complexity, major power consumption and customer frustration
with slow wireless networks and managing passwords and pairing issues. With
KISS CONNECTIVITY, a solid- state connectivity solution, Keyssa has reinvented
the connectors and designed a new contactless connectivity to solve the
problems faced due to both wired and wireless communication for the purpose of
data transfer between devices done through various connection techniques. this
paper deals with dramatic improvement that KISS CONNECTIVITY offers over wired
and wireless communication networks and how it enables the OEM’S to easily
differentiate their product offerings.

There are numerous advancements in data
transfer technology, but the Keyssa, California based startup company has taken
it to a way ahead, it invented a new way to connect devices and transfer data
of about 6GB within few seconds with single touch from one smartphone to the other
more efficiently and the name given to this technology is KISS CONNECTIVITY.
Keyssa aimed to create fastest channel for the data transfer among the devices
without any need of port, cables or any other kind of dependency that will slow
the process of transfer of  the data.



The kiss connectivity is a new and advanced
technology, it works the same as NFC technology but  is a way more efficient than NFC. Suppose, we
need to transfer the data from one smartphone to another and both the devices
have a  predesigned KISS CONNECTIVITY
chip inbuilt in them, then we have to just touch the devices so that a contact
is made between the chips to transfer data with a very high speed. The chips,
embedded in both the devices, create a magnetic channel to transfer data instantly.
This technology has the potential to replace all the conventional ways of

is used to transfer the data .

At present the devices have to be connected
with the help of ports , cables or the internet to transfer the content but the
KISS CONNECTIVITY will reduce the burden from devices by eliminating the need of
ports once and for all by simple touch made by the devices. The speed is also improved
greatly by providing 6GB per second which is something that everyone wants
today. The smartphone or
device manufacturer only need to embed a single chip in their devices and their
devices not become slimmer but also have the fastest mode of transferring the
data. The Kiss Connectivity technology is not so popular yet and most of the
people are unaware of this fastest mode of data transfer. The only device which
is currently using this technology is Acer Aspire Switch 12 S tablet. Apart
from this, there is also news that upcoming smartphones may have the kiss

Current Situation:

Over the past few decades almost
every component of mobile and  the computing
devices has seen many major innovations. Mechanical connectors have not. As there
is decrease in size of the devices and data rates increase, the product designs
continue to suffer from inherent limitations posed by mechanical connectors:

• The Reliability due to fragility of
mechanical connectors.
• EMI/RFI is emitted from the metal inside a connector as well as a cable,
especially at higher data rates
•The  Unsightly holes resulting from the
need for a receptacle.

Many problem which are related to
connector designs are eliminated by wireless communications, but added new  issues like cost, customer frustration with
slow, shared wireless networks , pairing issues,  complexity in antenna design and managing

 Almost every
part and component of mobile and computing devices has seen major innovation
over the past decades, except for the metal connector. Many of today’s
connector types are too large for modern mobile and computing devices, such as

mechanical connectors in an acceptable form factor and still maintain the

solid-state coffee bean-sized connector which can be embedded anywhere along

 Mechanical Reliability

Radio Frequency Interference

 In an attempt
to meet the ever-increasing market demand to move more data more quickly, some
smartphone manufacturers have incorporated USB 3.0 in their products. However,
this protocol is often disabled due to the potential interference between USB
3.0 and the 802.11 Wi-Fi standard. The USB 3.0 connector radiates within the
802.11 frequency band. By replacing the metal USB connector with a contactless

 ESD Considerations

 Due to the

 A mobile device
with Kiss Connectivity can connect to a docking station enabled with Kiss Connectivity.
That docking station can connect the mobile device to a wide range of legacy
peripherals like monitors, storage devices, keyboard and mouse via data
transfer protocols such as USB, DisplayPort, and Ethernet. Transfers are made
between the mobile device and the docking station, and then routed to the
appropriate peripheral. Currently the most common way to connect a tablet
computer to a keyboard is through a metal connector or wireless connection.

High-Speed Data Rates

Typical wireless networks provide
connections with inconsistent data transmission rates. The rate at which data
is transferred across current Wi-Fi or WiGig networks is proportional to the
number of users on the network and the environmental conditions of the network.
The more users connected, the slower the network. Kiss Connectivity provides a
private point-to-point data transmission of up to 6 Gbit/s depending on the
data transmission protocol implemented. This provides consistent high-speed
data transfers

between a pair of mated devices, regardless
of the number of other devices present in a given area

(such as airports, shopping malls). This is illustrated in Table 1.



Consistent Upload and
Download Data Rates

In the current transfer protocols listed in Table 2,
there is often a dramatic difference between upload and download rates. For
example, the effective transmission rate on Wi-Fi network for uploading data is
20 Mbit/s, and for downloading is 40 Mbit/s. With LTE cellular networks, the
upload rate is approximately 5 Mbit/s, and 20 Mbit/s for downloading. Kiss
