occurring due to the ill knowledge of the wound or injury of the victim has
been a major drawback in the field of medicine. In this paper we focus on
preventing such tragic happenings by rendering the information of the victim
beforehand using a mobile app which captures the images of the wounded region
and obtaining the complexity of the wound by measuring its dimensions such as
area and depth, and in turn these details along with the geographical locations
of the accident are shared with the nearby ambulances to help them make
precautionary steps to make the aid more efficient. The nearest hospital gets
the intimation via the designated platform and do the necessary to treat the




A. Wound depth measurement

There are projects and journal
papers published in the internet on the idea of measuring the depth of the
wound. These works concentrate on helping the doctors to diagnose and analyze
the wound without having direct(physical) contact with the wound or helping the
patients to keep track of the recovery of the wound by calculating the
dimensions of the wound. The major methods of measuring the dimensions of the
wound are using the phenomenon of distortion of parallel lines and colour
coding of the wound. The use of parallel lines for the wound depth measurement
is based on mathematical calculations which would easily produce the required
results. The use of colour coding is based on the conversion of image into binary
data, which serves as the basis for measuring the wound dimensions. These
algorithms help to a very large extent in the proposed work.



B. Connecting ambulances

are Mobile applications which help in connecting the ambulances over a region.
Students from the Indian Institute of Technology –Madras have developed an app
before six months to connect ambulances in a region. The Mobile application
called CALLAMBULANCE [1] connects all the 108 ambulances which is the largest
ambulance service network in India. The app avoids the need for calling an
ambulance in emergency situations by just the touch of a button on the mobile
screen.[2] The
app stores the data of the person, about their medical history and the crucial
details such as the blood group of the person etc.


C. ICE card

ICE card [3]
is a simple way of storing the details of the person which will be helpful for
the doctors to make the diagnosis of the health effectively. ICE (In case of
emergency) was initiated for the concerned authorities to contact the kin of
the victim by using the mobile phone and to get the medical details of the



The idea is to design a mobile
based application which combines the idea of measuring wound depth and
connecting the ambulances under a region.


A. Working of the proposed model

The app which is created has two
interfaces, one for the common people and the other for the ambulance operator.
The witness of the accident is required to take an image of the injured person and
their wound through this app. The app translates the image into the required
image, extracting the dimensions of their wound and transfers the same to a
cloud storage, which in turn shares the details to the ambulances in the
surrounding location.


B. Role of ambulance operator

The ambulance operator gets an
alert through the application and is requested to select a choice to engage or
disengage the rescue. If one ambulance operator engages the rescue operation,
then the alert to the other ambulances are muted. The ambulance operator who
has engaged the work receives the images of the victim along with the
geographical location of the place where the accident has occurred. The
ambulance operator in turn makes the precautionary steps to make the rescue
even more efficient based on the data available from the images. A team of
physicians can be availed to help the ambulance operators to make the
precautions by analyzing the complexity of the wound.

C. Gathering up of
previous Cases

The server is made to store the
entries of the previous cases in order to help the operators to make easier
assumptions on how to provide the first aid for any kind of wound. The server
analyzes the image and draws up the cases related to the new problem. These
help in making quicker decisions and to avoid any mistakes in the precautions
taken which may have occurred previously and helps in preventing any disaster
from arising during the aid.


D. Reporting Mass

The application has another
functionality for reporting mass accident. In case of large accident involving
huge number of victims the app provides an option of choosing a function which
generates a distress call to the surrounding ambulances. The location of the
distress call is received by the surrounding ambulances and the reach the place
without much delay.

The app determines the nearest
hospital of the accident. The app takes into account of the details of the
victim, the potent of care needed and facilities to be availed to the victim.
The hospital being suggested would be specialized for the victim’s injury and
would have all the essential things beforehand like that of blood.


E. Identification
of Victim Beforehand

App would have the utilities of
AADHAAR card. This would provide additional support by gaining essential
details such as the blood group.  The
database can have the access to additional details like the victim’s address
and this could provide a means to inform his/her family. Information regarding
the location of misfortune and the concerned hospital where the victim is
admitted to can also be informed right away, which would definitely reduce the
count of  unattended casualities.
