Big and Small City Living

Have you ever wondered if you’re missing out on the big city living or the small town closeness? Cities and towns are basically the same, but most cities have more to offer. I have lived in a couple of large cities such as Oklahoma City and Tulsa, but I have also lived in several small towns around Oklahoma. Before you decide where you want to live, you might want to look at some of the similarities and differences of Big City living and Small Town living. When you are in a large city and you want to grab something to eat, the decision can be hard because there are so many different places to eat. Big cities have every type of fast food you can imagine such as Chinese, Asian, American, Mexican, Greek, and many more. They also have a huge selection of chain restaurants. One type of restaurant that that you won’t find as often is the Mom and Pop restaurants. These aren’t as successful as they are in smaller cities and towns. Small town cuisine is very limited compared to city food. Most of the restaurants there are family restaurants that have been passed from generation to generation. The fast food selection in small towns is also very limited. Some small towns do not even have a single fast food eatery. In America most of our goods are purchased in stores. In large cities, there is an abundance of stores, everything from a specialty health food store to a party supply store, or even a name brand clothing store. Cities usually have several malls with a huge selection of stores and services. Another thing that they have a large abundance of is supermarkets and superstores. The difference from large city shopping compared to small town shopping can be drastically difference. In most cases small towns do not have shopping malls or specialty stores.

They usually have a small supermarket and superstore. As far as specialty stores, cities are the place to go. When it comes to activities, large cities are filled with things to do. Shopping is a huge attraction in cities, but there are also water parks and amusement parks that attract the attention of people of all ages. In large cities the fun does not stop after the sun goes down. There are many night clubs and different night activities such as night bowling, put-put golf, and night golf. If you are in small town the list of activities is small compared to big city fun. There are a limited number of stores to shop at, and the only parks are usually city parks. In small towns you can usually go swing at the public pool or hang with friends. There is not much of a night life in small towns either. One fun activity is cow tipping. This is one activity that most city folk do not get the chance to try. Whether it is a small town or large city, they both have their advantages and disadvantages. If you are trying to figure out where you want to live, do not let size be your only determining factor. Many small towns are close enough to large citied that you still get to experience the big town living. So if you want the conveniences of big city shopping and theme parks, but you like the comfort of small town living then you can find an area that suits your needs in a smaller town close to a city, but if you enjoy the hustle of a large city and you like the ease of access to the resources, then the city may be for you.
