Currently the
web design focuses on how the content fit on a variety of devices such as
desktop, tablet, smartphone or iPod, without any consideration of the users’
capabilities and ages. Indeed, web users including a large variety of age, and
web design, which has driven by AI, trends today toward advanced notions such
as conversational user interface, and Age responsive web design (Renish, V.,
2017). As I discussed previously, AI-driven website has the ability to modify
the user interface design immediately and automatically based on the user’s
requirements and feedbacks. The improvement could be added to its functionality
is shifting its responsive from device adaptation to the user-centric. By this
I mean, optimize the user interface automatically to meet users’ needs based on
specific criteria such as age, users’ capability, and emotion, and that
includes website content, layout, typography, color schema, and navigation.

web uses metadata to identify the age of the user, then the web content and
layout will display differently as responsive to the user’s age. The
elderly users, unlike the younger users, they usually have poor eyesight, and
vision issues and because of that it may find it difficult to read a small font
size. When the AI-drive web detects a user is from the elderly group, the UI
will be optimized automatically by increasing font size and the vertical
spacing between baselines which is called Leading (Kleinsmith, A., 2017, Week 9
part 2 slide 15). Thus, enhancing the legibility, readability, and make the
reading experience effortless, and enjoyable. Besides that, Chatbot, which is a
conversational UI, will be added to the web so, it can work as a smart virtual
assistant, hold conversations with the elderly, direct them to the right
action, and making it easier for them to find the information they want; thus,
eliminating any confusion and frustration.


navigation menus with lots of features, and details may hinder elderly
experience since they are likely to spend less time in a web, and may are not
familiar with all these features. Therefore, UI will be optimized to represent simple
navigation menu with only the essentials, so they can easily interact with it, meet
their needs, and eliminating any hassles or difficulties. In contrast, younger
users prefer expanding menu, and discovering the list of many options (Sharp, H. et all., 2016,
p.168). Based
on their age, UI will be optimized automatically. Regards the color, older
visitors ignore saturation colors, and prefer shades of lighter colors since
they are easier on the eyes. While, younger users are respond better to the
hue, saturation, and bright colors because these schemata of colors track their
attention and they perceive them as more exciting and dynamic (Kleinsmith, A.,
2017, Week 9 part 3 slide 16). Therefore, AI-drive web will adapt these
preferences, and optimize based on the uses’ situation.


For kids, it is important to monitor what is the content that is
displayed for them, and it would be a fantastic idea if the AI-drive web takes
this role and filters the content based on their age. Additionally, kids
affected by colorful schemes and animated images. So, presenting the content in
a simple way such as a video format or icons will help them to understand and
browse the web safely. Applying these improvements, allows the designers to be
more efficiently in catering users’ needs, and makes the user feel that each
website is designed for him.
