Who is Cyrano in the play Cyrano de Bergerac? In Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand, Cyrano is a man who has a big sized nose, and he is in love with a beautiful woman named Roxane, but she is in love with a handsome man named Christian. All throughout the play Cyrano tries to get Roxane to love him for his personality, not his looks. Cyrano’s personality is brave, romantic, and witty. Cyrano’s trait is brave. An example of Cyrano being brave is when he almost gets shot for sending letter to Roxane, and his friend tells him, “Don’t you think it’s going a little too far to risk your life every day to send a letter? (4. 1) This proves that Cyrano is daring for risking his life to send letters to Roxane. It also proves that he cares about Roxane to send letters to her, even though he is risking his life while doing so. Another example of Cyrano being brave is when he fights one hundred men against himself. This indicates he is heroic because he is not scared to fight the men. It shows he is courageous enough to go up against them. In conclusion, Cyrano is fearless because he is not scared to risk his life, or fight one hundred people. Cyrano’s persona is romantic.

For example, Cyrano is romantic when he is talking to Roxane underneath the balcony and he says, “I could no more stop loving you than I could stop the rising of the sun. ”(3. 7) This specifies that Cyrano is affectionate because of the way he describes his love toward Roxane. Another instance of Cyrano being romantic is the letters he writes to Roxane for Christian. This states that Cyrano is a romantic poet by the way he writes the letters to Roxane. It also states that he is a good friend to Christian for sending the letters to Roxane, even though he is in love with Roxane.

All in all, Cyrano is passionate because of his way with words. Cyrano’s quality is witty. An illustration of Cyrano being witty is when Lise thinks he is lying and he says to her, “Why? Was my nose twitching? If so, it must have been an enormous lie! ”(2. 3) This points out that Cyrano is witty because he is quick to come up with a clever come back.
