Washington was born in to the family of wealthy planters and is noted by the historians as for excellent supervision and selection of the Generals, and providing attention to training, logistics and supplies for the army.

Unifying the nation as a whole using the federal power was the primary motive of this first President of the United States. George Washington was considered as one of a kind because of his attempts to unify the nation by utilizing the rival factors. Spending much of his childhood at Ferry Farm in Stafford County, Washington was inherited with Ferry Farm after his father’s death. Washington was even appointed as surveyor of Culp County as a result of which he purchased a prominent acquisition in western Virginia.

George Washington took his oath of office as the first President of United States on April 30 1789.

He wrote to James Madison,

“As the first of everything, in our situation will serve to establish a Precedent, it is devoutly wished on my part that these precedents may be fixed on true principles.”

Possessing the moral, manners and body of knowledge of an 18th Century gentleman, George Washington coined a name and status for himself that no one else till date has been able to overshadow. Western invasion and military arts were Washington’s two major interests. George Washington, the first President of the United States of America was married to Martha Dandridge Custis, a widow with whom he led a happy and peaceful life.

According to Washington, the best strategy was to harass the British and he reported to Congress saying,

“We should on all occasions avoid a general action, or put anything to the risque unless compelled by a necessity into which we ought to be drawn.”

George Washington realized that the nation that ran under the framework of his articles of Confederation was not running properly as a result of which he led a new Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787. With the ratification of this constitution, he was elected as the first President of the United States. What was unique about Washington was that he did not infringe up on the powers that were allocated to him as the President of the United States. This resulted in people and his sub- ordinates trusting him more and more.

The American dream of becoming the strongest and the most powerful nation in the world now rested on the shoulders of George Washington and he undoubtedly laid the foundation of helping America in achieving its dream.

When a major war between France and England resulted in the French revolution, Washington displayed his intelligence by not listening to his Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson who was pro- French. Washington also did not pay any attention to the advice of his pro- British Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton. Washington was quite aware of the fact that listening to any of them would fulfil their selfish interests instead of fulfilling the dream of the United States of America. What made Washington stand out in the crowd was that each and every decision he took was based on fulfilling the American dream instead of any of the selfish interests of anyone else. He even rose into conflict with his secretaries if he felt that a decision made by them will influence the country as a whole. He always put the country first despite the difficulties that came into his path. Righteousness and good deed were part of his nature.
