Homelessness in San Jose “The Jungle” (Cause and Effect)   The San Jose “Jungle” is a problem within the Homelessness community because there were crimes, there were drugs, garbage and encampments it was getting crowded until it was shut down.  The meaning of Homelessness is the state of having no home, situational, cyclical and chronic.  This is currently an issue in our world because there are homeless people in the streets and ask for money.  The community wants to plan to homelessness, as a long-term goal.  In the text, it said,”There are still a lot of people living along our creeks and we don’t have the stuff monitor every part of it all the time.”  City’s homeless response Manager.  Currently, people are dying in streets because of spike therefor among deaths.  According to San Jose city officials said, there are 4,000 homeless residents of the three-quarters that have no shelter at all in San Jose.  In the text, ” This is not the only country that this is happening. it’s also happening in L.A. County and Philadelphia County, so there are other places in the United States where homeless deaths are on the rise.”  Unquestionably, The Jungle is a problem and extreme impact in San Jose and to its residents.The impact of Homelessness is so extreme because there are homeless people on the streets laying down everywhere they have to have a home.  First of all, one of the causes of homelessness is an illness.  Some examples of homeless people illness are alcohol abuse and drug abuse that draws them to the Jungle.  According to Santa Clara County Homeless Deaths, “The report stems from an in-depth look at deaths in the homeless population, including demographics, cause of death, location of death, medical history, drug and alcohol presence, veteran status and deaths involving a motor vehicle.”  In addition, another cause of Homelessness is some homeless people don’t like shelters.  People don’t want to follow the rules and get kicked out of shelters.  A resident named Leticia is homeless   she said, “I don’t like the confinement, you know the rules of having to get up and pull your stuff all over the place just like to be free.” These two causes have resulted in many people becoming homeless. Tiny Homes has provided to focus on innovative features and replicability.  Tiny Homes works by ginning temporary services, the housing must have at least 10,000 square feet of vehicles and a dumpster enclosure.  From  the article Tiny Homes its state, ” It will allow us to create bridge housing opportunities a stable place people can live and stay while they’re waiting to be placed in a permanent home.”  To clarify, the people that need a home can stay there until they can find a permanent home for themselves.  Tiny Homes has the potential to be successful because the Tiny Homes are to be at least 1,320 feet away from schools and 530 feet away from residential homes.  From the text, “The homes must be insulated, have weather-proof roofing, lighting and electrical outlets, according to the bill.”  To rephrase it’s the Homes are going to have a roof that is weatherproof and lighting.  All things considered, this is helping the community because if they don’t have shelter they can have a Tiny Homes.  Tiny Homes is known for homeless people that need a home and it is important because so many homeless people are in San Jose in the streets.  Through their work they have impacted homelessness by having a home for themselves, so they can find another home to stay.  In December the year of 2017, Tiny Homes are supporting homeless people in San Jose.  From the article ” But San Jose lawmakers still face the bigger hurdle of figuring out where to put them, with few residents eager to house the house-less in their own neighborhoods. .”  From the text, San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo said, ” We will not be considering whether we allow homeless in our neighborhoods, because they are already in our neighborhoods .”  Can Tiny Homes really solve the problem of homelessness in San Jose?  Yes, Tiny Homes can solve the problem because homeless people are going to have a home while they have everything organized and they buy a home or rent for themselves. Family Supportive Housing versus Tiny Homes (Compare and Contrast)   San Jose Homeless Shelter Family Supportive Housing and Tiny Homes share notable similarities and differences to provident to homeless people. One commonality between Family Supportive Housing and Tiny homes it provides a place to live for the homeless people.  However, Family Supportive Housing has been helping homeless for thirty-one years since 1986.  On the contrary, the Family Supportive housing is a long term.  Based on information from Family Supportive Housing,” We provide temporary housing and targeted support to guide families from crisis to self-sufficiency.” By comparison, Tiny Homes are homes that will be supportive services, Tiny home are temporary.  One example from the text from  Tiny Homes article is, “A half-acre piece of land according to city documents could house up to 25 people inside 20 units.”  Indeed, these two locations are both options for the homeless with advantages and disadvantages. It’s a place to sleep, have a shower and go out looking for a job.”  Secondly, is to help the community of homelessness in San Jose is to have  Tiny Homes can help homeless people find safer homes then living on The streets in San Jose.  According to the text ” It allows the city of San Jose to temporarily suspend state building,safety and health codes for the purpose of building “unconventional” housing structures-everything from wood-framed sheds to tiny homes.”  In the text, it said, “The City Council is still considering other options to deal with the homeless issue as well, including sanctioned encampments and better safe parking.”  Tiny Homes is a new solution in San Jose for the homeless people.  But the residents don’t want Tiny Homes in their neighborhood because probably the families don’t want the homeless people around there kids.    While it is true that Tiny Homes can help homeless people in the streets, some research asserts that Family Supportive Housing helps families, giving them food and education.  Family Supportive Housing guides families to independent lives in our community.  The most important thing to remember is that Homelessness is a major problem in San Jose.  Ultimately Tiny Homes are more effective than Family Supportive housing due to the simple fact that the Tiny Homes help to end the crisis as quickly as possible.  On the other hand, someone might argue that Family Supportive Housing can help in food shelter employment and education by all families that are homeless showing supportive resources and skills.  Family Supportive Housing impact stated, ” Getting families off of the street — providing that very important first step of food and shelter — is what enables us to deliver the supportive services that will ultimately lead these families to independent lives in our community.”  Family Supportive Housing Financial Literacy stated, “Our ultimate goal is to give families the financial tools and knowledge that they need to put homelessness behind them, forever.”  Overall, although Family Supportive Housing is a good solution, Tiny Homes are far better.    Currently, there is 2,530 teens and young adults that are homeless out of 7,394 that are homeless in Silicon Valley.  When researching Homelessness it is obvious that Tiny Homes is a strong solution to address the problem of homelessness in the street that never stops.  Indeed, if we do not stop homelessness in San Jose, then there are homeless people in the street that then help so we have to do is to get them out of the streets.  The story of Valentino Khaksarian tells us is he is 18-years-old, he went to Leadership Public School.  He was put in foster care, he had an abusive father and his mother was addicted to drugs. Valentino reunited with his mother only to become homeless he slept behind San Jose City Hall, he slept in a red tent.  His brother was involved in gangs.  In two years ago Valentino decided to change and live with his friend’s houses.  Valentino said that everyone had talents because they thought would end up like his mom and his brother, but he didn’t want to be like them.  His teachers encouraged him to apply Ithica College in New York.  Valentino didn’t think he will have a chance and then he got an acceptance letter.  Valentino when he got the letter he was starting jumping and it was amazing for him.  It was his dream college.  Valentino said, “You can’t give up on something just because someone says you can’t you have to keep trying.”  Since homeless people have no food, nowhere. to sleep in and no money to rise there own kids due to homelessness is so truly painful, but Tiny Homes can help because they support where can live in a Tiny Home.  Unquestionably, Tiny Homes is a powerful way to address the problem of homelessness in San Jose.  This is the path to end homelessness for good.
