It is our attitude towards our imperfection
That shapes us as Homo sapiens
If one could take their time to
Think of how significant our current youth are
Only then will they realise that our future is our youth
As I travel to the market in the Cab
I analytically observe how these humans
Interact and live as a whole
On my right was a horde of young boys
Intoxicating themselves irresponsibly
On my left was a young girl in what I
Would call a School uniform
Torn apart that what was only left was pieces of
Cloth covering her knuckle knees and greyhounded chest
I sit in the cab wondering if this could recur
What would our own country if not the world be like
In a decade?
Souls are lost beyond rescue
Souls are demotivated and uninspired
Souls are deteriorated beyond recognition
Souls are broken beyond repair
Souls are extinguished and have vaporised
Thinking of how these deteriorated souls are the solution
To the coming generations
Our Youth needs Leaders to lead and Empower them
Our youth needs to be refined
And our youth needs to be nurtured
Poverty, lack of funding for schools, disarrayed home environments, lack
of exposure to technology all impact the endeavour to educate
The best schools too cannot overcome some of the deterrent placed in
front of the students that amble through their doorway.
Violence, hunger, alcohol, Child neglect, gangs, violence, drugs
all have a consequential impact on how children learn and grow
Now by a mere look of the eye
You and I can see that the youth is gradually injecting themselves
With the mentality that education is not important
If you and I think that education is not important, then let’s try
Illiteracy and see where that gets us.
Let us make our future now,
and let us make our dreams tomorrow’s reality.
You may say that I’m a dreamer,
but surely I’m not the only one.
I hope someday you’ll join us.
And the world will be a better place
