Learning In terms of auditory style, it

Learning styles have long been a topic of concern. Because they refer to several theories that explain the dissimilarities in individuals’ learning, these styles have exerted a huge impact on education.  It is undeniable that different people would possess distinctive ways of learning, yet they can be categorized into three groups based on the human senses, which are visual, auditory and tactile.

Regarding the visual modality, it has two sub-channels: linguistic and spatial. Students of visual-linguistic style often show a tendency to prefer written language, particularly in reading and writing tasks. They tend to take notes frequently and have a good memory of what has been written down. On the other hand, visual-spatial learners perform better with visual aids such as images or demonstrations. They are able to learn by heart quite fast with the visual materials. In general, students into this type of learning can have their competence fostered by utilizing outlines, handouts and mind maps.

In terms of auditory style, it is described as a way of using sounds, rhythms or tones to study. Learners of this kind occasionally read out loud and learn through listening. Moreover, should they be allowed to discuss their tasks with surrounding people, they can absorb the information more effectively and bear it in mind. In order to encourage students with auditory modality, teachers should prepare summary activities and ask them questions when possible to draw their attention to the lessons.

Considering tactile learning method, it can also be called kinesthetic style. Students of this type tend to favor gestures, body movements and sense of touch. When studying, they often highlight important information in their materials and take notes by organizing diagrams. They are also able to concentrate more on the lessons if the teachers present diverse body language and deliver a variety of handouts. Irrefutably, tactile learners will perform better with activities that make them stand up to move around or classes of varied stimulation.

In conclusion, although there still exist controversy around these learning styles, it is undeniably crucial for students to acknowledge what kind of method they prefer and excel at. Teachers can also benefit from this to integrate learning environment of each class. Overall, classifying into visual, auditory and tactile modality is among the clearest way to categorize learning styles.
