Life Before Children vs Life After Children Essay

Diamond Niles Mr. Brewington English 100 10 June, 2010 Life Before Children VS. Life After Children Being a mother has brought on a big change in my life. The life before becoming a mother was enjoyable. Even though, I have children, my life is still enjoyable and I have lots of love for my children. My children are my blessings. The changes that occurred in my life are: sleep, money, and responsibility. Before I had children, I use to party all night and I slept all day. I was still at home with my parents and they treated me like a baby.

I did not have to worry about anyone waking me up in the middle of the night or early in the morning. I got plenty of rest. After all the partying and hanging out all night, I ended up pregnant. My whole life changed like a twinkle of an eye. I had a baby girl and in the hospital, she was the most precious little thing you ever laid eyes on. Bringing her home from the hospital was like “Nightmare on Elm Street. ” There was no more sleeping all night and half the day for me. My baby had her days and nights mixed up. I had to change my sleep patterns to sleep when she slept. Later on in life, I had three more precious children.

Altogether, I have four children. After having all these children, sleeping was something I did not get to do that often. Money was something I did not have to worry about. My parents gave me whatever I needed. Sometimes, I had money to get my hair fixed twice a week. I did not care about the cost for the different hairstyles that I would get. I did not have to budget my money, because I knew that my parents would take care of me. I would buy plenty of clothes, shoes, and makeup. Prices did not matter, because if I wanted it, I got it. I had a job, but I did not like it so, I quit the job.

Also, my grandparents, aunts and uncles gave me money and bought different things for me. At that time of my life, I was a spoiled brat. Now, I have children and I have to work. Instead of everyone taking care of me, they helped me with my children. No more spending all my money on myself. I have to make sure that my kids get what they need. I have to budget my money so that I can buy clothes for me and my children. Clothes are very expensive. I can not afford to quit a job, because it is not all about me, it is about my children and I. My children depend on me for food, clothing, and a home.

Now, I am a mother and have to take care of my children like my mother took care of me. Currently, I am working a full time job and attending Piedmont Technical College as a full time student. I am attending college to get a better career, so that I can get a better job making more money. When you have a family, you need to make as much money as possible. Before children, I did not have to worry about responsibilities. The only person I had to worry about was me. I did not have to worry about preparing a meal, because my mother prepared all the meals. When I had to get dressed, the only person I had to worry about was me.

After my children came along, I had to learn how to prepare meals. Preparing meals was difficult, because each child did not like the same things. When I would get up in the mornings, I had to get myself dressed and my children. It was hard getting four little children dressed and dressing myself. I would have to get up earlier to get all of us dressed when we had to go somewhere. Being a mother has been a challenge. It is not a job that I can clock in or out, it is a twenty-four hour job. My children are my responsibility and they require a lot of my time and energy. They have brought great joy into my life.
