In today’s society,
the internet plays a huge role for everyone, as it is a form of communication
for people to stay interconnected. The most popular of being able to use the
internet is Wi-Fi. For those who don’t know what that is, according to the Oxford
dictionaries “A facility allowing computers, smartphones, or other devices to
connect to the Internet or communicate with one another wirelessly within a
particular area.”. There’s no need of having to carry a wire to connect your
devices, as long as you’re in the distance range you’ll be able to connect.
Wi-Fi works by using radio waves to provide users network connectivity. This
works thanks to the Wi-Fi router, it retrieves radio singles from devices such
as phones, laptops, TV’s, home security systems, etc.  From there the Wi-Fi router decodes into data
to which it will send the data to the internet via an Ethernet code. For our
smart city design we want the citizens to enjoy, be able to stay connected with
one another and able to access the internet whenever and wherever. Having a
satellite to transmit Wi-Fi signal to our city will give people the luxury of
using the internet anywhere in the city limits. This will help deliver
broadband speeds to anyone who is using the satellite Wi-Fi for free. The
benefits of having satellite include being connected all the time and
convenient for tourist who needs to use their phones GPS. As for the future,
this means regarding societal ethics, will fit into the conceptual goals of the
city which is efficiency, resourceful, safe, and improve the overall quality of
life. The duty of a smart city is to create the safest environment in the
future to the best of our ability. As engineers, we are obligated to update the
infrastructure periodically and optimize the ways in which we respond to
emergencies such as natural disasters, accidents, and warnings. In the future,
we vision that our smart city will bring the world such as the countries
together. It will only take one city to include smart green technologies to set
a trend and be a model for other countries to transition their society into.
The technology and equipment are out there it’s only a matter of time it’ll
become reality.  The Wi-Fi satellite
technology is an example of utilitarianism as we try having the internet
accessible to everyone within the city limits this focuses to achieve the most
happiness. This is why it’s a prime example of utilitarianism because you’re
not harming anyone and this is benefitting you and a larger group of people who
need to use the internet.

Therefore, the
concept of a smart city is a great example of utilitarianism as it focuses to
bring the most happiness and benefits everyone. Due to global trends in
population, urbanization, and change in demographics. To sustain the needs of
the rapidly growing population smart city is the best solution to accommodate
the current global issues. Having smart buildings will not only run more
efficiently but will help a more comfortable experience for the citizens. As
well as create a little to no harm against the outside environments as the
building are designed to be resourceful. With the satellite Wi-Fi, being able
to access the internet should be a problem anymore. No harm is being done to
retrieving Wi-Fi signals so we can surely expect people to be happy knowing
that Wi-Fi is free and everywhere within the city’s limits. This being the
morally right thing to do as we know that this is for the greater good and we
can expect good consequences from smart buildings and satellite transmitting Wi-Fi
