Research designIn determining the factors that affect radiological technologist satisfaction with their job, the researcher will adopt a descriptive survey study. Zikmund (2002) defines a survey as a research technique in which information is gathered from a sample of people using a questionnaire. The survey will target radiologists working in different sectors for example health, education and industry. A descriptive study is used when the study seeks in-depth information about the characteristics of sample selected in bid to understand the general population hence a descriptive design will exhaustively identify what factors affect radiological technologist satisfaction with their job. Cooper and Schindler (2006) have reinforced the above argument by stating that descriptive studies may fulfill the following objectives: I. Descriptions of phenomena or characteristics associated with subject characteristics (the who, what, when, where and how). II. Estimate proportions of population that have these characteristics and III.
Discovery of associations among different variables.Validity and reliabilityValidity is the extent to which a test measures what it is meant to measure. Validity may be content, criterion related and construct (Cooper and Schindler ,2006). Further they state that methods of measuring this validity may be judgmental and correlation. Potential drawbacks then would then be that judgmental is subjective to the researcher himself meaning that what is valid to researcher A may not be valid to B. on the other hand, correlation may be spurious yet correlation is depicted between the variables measured.Reliability is how accurate and precise the measurement procedure is. Peter (1979) views reliability as freedom from error and yielding consistent results.
This is assured according to by repeatability assured through test-retest method. The draw back of this is seen in the limited time that shrouds most research settings. The sample is also subject to change and instability from time to time.
Data collection and analysisData collection methods to be used in this case would be a structured questionnaire administered directly to the respondents. Questions which specifically seek to explore the level of job satisfaction would be in the form of a five point likert scale. Other questions which might be included in the instrument are open ended questions and multiple choice questions for general information.Data analysisData can be analyzed using SPSS to derive descriptive statistical measures such as mean and standard deviation. Mean will measure central tendency and deviation will measure dispersion. Further the relationship between variables may be measured using correlation coefficient (r) and these relationships may be explained using the regression co-efficient (R2). These relationship may be sought to determine whether nature of work and job satisfaction are related, period when job is done i.e.
