The objective of this experiment is
to measure the amount of rainfall in one event or more events to proposed area.

THEORY:

A rain gauge is the
instrument that is also called pluvimeter or an ombrometer.

Rain gauge is use to find/measure the amount of liquid
precipitation over the time. This instrument is used by different departments
such as Pakistan Meteorological department (PMD),

Public works department (PWD), Agricultural Department,
Revenue department and Forest department for the purpose of measuring rainfall
over the given area.

The different method to be used for the purpose of measuring
the rainfall like,

1 Arithmetic mean method.

2 Thiessen methods.

3 Isohyetal methods.

Isohyetal method is the most accurate method than Thiessen
and Arithmetic mean.

There are different types of gauges used for the purpose of measuring
the rainfall.

Types of Gauges:

1 Non recording rain gauges

2 Recording rain gauges

1 Non recording rain gauges:

These are
the type of gauges that is used for the purpose of collecting the rain
precipitation and do not measure the rain.

2 Recording rain gauges:

These are
the type of gauges that is used for the purpose of measuring rain precipitation
and also collects the rain. There are subtypes recording rain gauges.
