Taj Mahal Essay

The beauty of Taj is unique. It is considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Its architecture and carving work on the marble is beyond imagination. It is the crescendo of architecture. It is more than 350 years old. Its unique beauty attracts the attention of the people of the country and foreign countries. A large number of people come to see it everyday. The map of Taj Mahal was prepared by the Ustad Ahmed of Lahore. The construction of Taj Mahal began in 1631 A. D.

Twenty thousand workers constructed it in twenty years. Acording to Dewan-e Afridi, 9 crores 16 lakh rupees were spent in its construction. The outline and sample of Taj was made by an architect. It is made from white marble. The marble for it was brought from Makrana. The means of transportation were not developed in those days. The bullock carts and camel carts were used for carrying goods in those days. It can be easily imagined that how laborious the work of carrying large piece of marble would have ben in those days.

Taj mahal is situated about 10 kms away from Agra city on the bank of river Yamuna. It is constructed on a high rectangular plain piece of land which is 290 metre long and 96 metre wide. The Yamuna River flows in its North direction and there are three beautiful gardens in other three directions. The gate of Taj Mahal is made from red stone and the Ayats of Quran are written on it with white marble. There is a small museum in it where the arms and weapons of Mughal Emperors are kept.

After this there is a scene of beautiful garden before the Taj Mahal where water ponds are seen with fountains and beautiful trees are planted on both sides. There are four white marble minarets around the Taj Mahal. It looks as if these minarets are guarding the emperor Shahjahan and his beloved wife mumtaj who are in ever lasting sleep under the 90 metre high large dome. The workmanship of the artists mesmerize as we cross the platform. The carving work and handwork on the walls fills the hearts of spectators with joy and happiness.

There are four corridors of white marble in all four directions. The samples of graves of Shahjahan and Mumtaj are situated under the dome of Taj Mahal. The real graves are just beneath it. There is much darkness in this portion where candle lights are used for seeing it. Here, the atmosphere is full of fragrance. Taj Mahal looks very beautiful in the night of Sharad Purnima. The red and green stones of the Taj radiates like diamondsin the moon light.

Lakhs of people from our country and foreign countries come to see this living embodiment of beauty ‘the Taj Mahal’ in the night of Sharad Purnima. The look of Taj Mahal in the moon light becomes so beautiful and attractive that it pleases everybody. The image of Taj Mahal in the water of river Yamuna reflects it eternal beauty. The name of this beautiful monument is taken with respect not only in India but in the whole of the world. The Taj Mahal has now been declared as number one among the Seven Wonders of the World.
