Civil liberties groups have added much criticism to the Patriot Act saying that by allowing law enforcement to invade the privacy of citizens it eliminates their constitutional rights for privacy. The Bush administration also used the event on 9/11 as a reason to have National Security tap into phone lines to listen to conversations and to be able to see e-mail conversations from people in the United States and people overseas. It is understandable that in order to prevent another attack we must take two times as much precaution. Some things include doubling security at airports and increased security checks.
Yet there is something that has been argued back and forth since the passing of The Patriot Act. It is the fact that the government wants to be able to tap into phone lines and e-mails.
