The Cork Essay

The Cork

Over time, there have been numerous contributions that the media has made to the subject of the freedom of speech. There are an immeasurable number of articles, movies, television dramas and short films that have been developed and brought forth to illustrate the significance that the freedom of speech holds in order for a society to develop productively and for the people of that society to lead lives in which they can be content. Of these countless contributions of the media to the significance of the freedom of speech, a short film directed by Ayesha Al Muqla stands out from the crowd.

The Cork was initially premiered at the Gulf Film Festival and is extremely eye catching in its presentation. In the movie The Cork, Ayesha Al Muqla does an incredible job of highlighting the importance of the freedom of speech (Ayesha Al Muqla). In order to do so, Ayesha Al Muqla has chosen to develop her stance based on two separate nations. One of the nations is a democracy, and the author is not, and Ayesha Al Muqla has used these opposing scenarios to present the audience with an insight into how freedom of speech that one is entitled to can have profound influences upon the route that a person’s life can take as it evolves and the eventual outcome to which it leads.

As mentioned above, the director of the movie is Ayesha Al Muqla, who is a new entrant into the vast field of direction. Usually, it takes newly entering directors quite a while before they are recognized by the international movie making community. However, the case has turned out to be quite different in the case of Ayesha Al Muqla. Her first movie was the 2007 The Awakening which achieved global recognition almost immediately. Her talents as a movie director are more than simply visible but seem to be at their peak in The Cork. Ayesha Al Muqla has quite an academic background in movie direction and it appears that in order to strengthen herself as a movie director and to attain knowledge of a diverse span of the attributes of international politics, she has also acquired a degree in political studies. It is perhaps for the same reason that she chose to highlight her central concept in The Cork by showing two nations present on two separate horizons of the freedom of speech. The movie is quite a ground breaker and one is not surprised if it reminds the audience of movies such as Le Pont, Smoke, Andheri, Ghobar and Al Qanas at certain points in the short film.

In light of the fact that she has a degree in political studies, it would not be a surprise if more of her movies in the future were to be based on scenarios where a certain degree of political upheaval and contrast was present and the central message was being communicated through a series of events that took place in the same scenario in a manner such that the audience was invited to derive the central message of the movie through the contrast. It would therefore be safe to presume that Ayesha Al Muqla’s movies are ones that the audience has to read between the lines in order to understand completely. Also, this leads us to the fact that Ayesha Al Muqla’s creations are ones that are designed to appeal to the intellectually aware rather than for mere entertainment purposes. The few but unique works of Ayesha Al Muqla can be seen as proof of the fact that Ayesha Al Muqla chooses to put her hand into works that are designed to inspire thought and to instill a sense of consciousness in the audience regarding the events that are occurring around the audience.

Also, if one was to go through the posters for the movie The Cork, it is more than apparent that a fresh mind has now taken step into the realm of movie creation and quite a bit of productive work can be expected from this new mind in the future. The very introductory poster is proof of the fact that Ayesha Al Muqla chooses to give her movies an appeal and a touch that differs from generally created works of motion picture. Her works are designed to do more than simply entertain the audience but are designed to communicate a message that holds meaning beyond the perimeters of any singular and individual society. Rather, judging by her works such as The Awakening and The Cork it would be safe to conclude that Ayesha Al Muqla’s works are designed to communicate messages on a much wider and broader scale. Her movies are not designed to appeal to any specific audience, but to any member of the international community who wishes to become aware of the numerous intricacies that surround them.
