The definition of Heroism is various. Everyone have their own definition. In somebody’s mind, a hero should act outstandingly, have amazing strength, and display courage in any kind of situation. Also, a hero is bright and is bake to lead his or her followers to a bright future as well. A true hero is someone who would like to sacrifice themselves and seek for the real good for others. Moreover, having ability to overcome all the struggles, a hero should always show his spirit of leadership. Zhou was born in a wealthy family, whose fortune declined when Zhou was young. However, his ambition never disappeared. He studied in a missionary college in Tianjin and later studied at a university in Japan. When he moved to France in 1920, Zhou helped to establish the overseas branch of the Chinese Communist Party. After the founding of new China, he became the premier and contributes his whole life to serve the people wholeheartedly. Being positive and optimistic until his death, he disregarded fame and wealth and dedicated himself selflessly for his country’s development. Because of his trait of selflessness to the people and his ambition to his country, Zhou became an admirable hero and his life story inspired and encouraged me in a lot of aspects. Zhou’s whole life can be describe as selfless. He cared about chinese people more than himself. In Zhou’s whole life, there were 4 rules that perfectly showed his selflessness. Two of them are: “No desire of the right and status” and “No abuse of right”. Before Zhou became the premier of people’s republic of China, he actively protected those who suffered during the great proletarian cultural revolution. At the end of this movement, he was the third ranking member of the Chinese leadership because of his reliability. However, he refused to become the president of China and gave the opportunity to others. Also during his premier years, he never used his rights for his personal interests. Once his niece asked him to let her join the government. He refused her immediately with the words: “Power shouldn’t use for ourselves, but for the development of a country. Moreover, Zhou did not need the power of president to manage the whole country because the main purpose of Zhou only wanted to use his power to create a better society for others. Furthermore, he still maintained his selflessness when his life was under a struggle. In 1925, Chou married Deng Yingchao who completely supported Zhou’s work. Therefore, when Deng first got her first pregnant, she aborted her first baby under her own decision, which later caused Deng’s infertility. The sadness of losing the opportunity to have a child did not stop Zhou from working for the people. Instead, Zhou treated the people as his own children and worked harder than before. Zhou once believed that a communist should serve the people sincerely and honestly, just like an ox. “…upon the coming of the century of the people, to work hard like a willing ox, to unite other communists, and to die for serving the people”(Zhou Enlai). Later in 1970, even when Zhou was suffering from cancer, Zhou fought to his last breath to maneuver Deng into power and help her to overthrow the Gang of Four. In his life, Zhou and the people of China were closely connected by his compassion. He always had the well being of the people at heart. Even the pain of losing his child and suffering from cancer couldn’t stop him serving the people. His rules of life showed that his whole life was purpose to serve the people equally and wholeheartedly, struggle for the lofty cause of communism, and disregard fame and wealth, and dedicate himself selflessly. For me, everyone can apply to the word heroism. As long as they really want to do something for this planet or others. They doesn’t have to obtain super power to ame heroism, but a pure heart that seeks for real goods.
