The where there the culture may be

The
current world is defined by diversity. Notably, all sectors of life and
particularly the professional world have been infiltrated by diversity. In the
workplace,  diversity can be described as
the availability of people with different characteristics or claiming different
backgrounds. The difference in these people can be in terms of age, race,
culture, education, religion, gender, ethnicity and even region (Davidson, Wood
& Griffin, 2009). Even though, the concept has been found to foster
limitations in the workplace, it has on the other hand led to significant
benefits.

In
practice, diversity has been found to have many benefits when effectively and
efficiently managed. This has made it to be used to improve the performance of
the employees. The reason behind this is that employees love to work in an
environment where there is a form of differences since it fosters healthy
competition (Luthans & Doh, 2009). Notably, diversity makes employees with
different characteristics to put extra effort so that they can perform well
than other characteristics. Employees work to outshine others so that the
characteristic that they are identified with is upheld. For instance, employees
of a certain culture tend to ensure their performance is exemplary during the
performance appraisal. In turn, this initiates competition in the workplace.

Diversity
is used to promote employees talent pool. For instance, it helps organizations
helps employees benefit from a wide skill range. It is inarguable that
employees with differences such as age, educational background and culture come
with different talents (Knox, Marston & Imort, 2016). The reason behind
this is that they have different mindsets, they perspective, experiences, and
they believe in different maxims. Since these employees tend to interact, the
talents are shared and the entire workforce team benefits. In turn, this has an
impact on organizational performance.

In
organizations, diversity helps organizations to expand. This is for the reason
that it ensures that the organization has a cultural difference, age
difference, language difference as well as other forms of differences. Due to
this, it becomes easy for organizations to expand by opening branches in areas
where there the culture may be different (Luthans, F, Luthans, B. C. &
Luthans, K. W, 2015). For instance, it may be impossible for a business to open
branches in areas where there is language barrier even if there is a viable
opportunity there. However, with diversity, an organization can identify people
within its workforce who can comfortably work in those areas without being
affected by the barrier.

Diversity
fosters innovation. Evidently, employees who work in an environment where
diversity prevails tend to learn from each other and improve their creativity.
Employees tend to get used to each other after working together for a long
time. This makes them share and learn each other’s, skills, working styles,
maxims, beliefs, ideologies and even values. Apparently, they share positive
attributes since all of them would like to improve their performance (Crane
& Matten, 2016). As such, it becomes easy for creative concepts to be
conceived. With progressive sharing of information and constant bouncing of
ideas from employees with differences, innovation is ensured. This helps
businesses benefit from the creative ideas coming from its workforce. The ideas
enable organizations to grow and be able to expand significantly.

In
conclusion, the analysis shows that workforce diversity is beneficial if it is
managed appropriately. Organizations which have embraced it have managed to use
the concept to their advantage. When an organization has people of different
age group, culture, ethnic groups, religious background, academic background,
and geographic background, it stands a chance to benefit from them
substantially. This is because these people, offer different ideologies, think
differently and employ different techniques of working. Per se, this ends up
fostering talents, skills, innovation spirit, team work, and positive
organizational culture. In turn, it becomes easy for organizations to grow and
expand significantly.
