The Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree and Strongly

The
options given for the 90 items for both positive and negative were: Strongly
Agree, Agree, Disagree and Strongly Disagree. The scoring key helps in rating
the response of an individual. Lastly the total score of positive and negative
was converted into Z score which identifies the individual, whether he/she
falls into High, Low, above average, below average or Average maturity scale
category. The scale was developed to gain two practical goals
i.e. one is to collect the backdrop information about the individual and second
goal for measuring social maturity is a natural and inevitably essential
outcome of child’s growth and development, rather than a mere pathological
symptom. (shodhganga.inflibnet, n.d.)

The
social maturity scale contains 90 items. It is used to calculate the three
major components personal adequacy by work orientation, self-direction
and ability to take stress, interpersonal adequacy by communication,
enlightened trust and cooperation and social adequacy by social
commitment, social tolerance and openness to change. The social maturity scale
was developed by Dr. Nalini Rao. This scale is a most Genuine and dependable
scale to categorise the people into socially mature and immature. (psychotronicsbangalore, n.d.)

maturity scale

The
social maturation allows detailed perception of social environment that help

social behaviour. People may ignore if the small child acts immature but not a
teenager. If there is a teenager who acts immature it will have an bad impact
on himself as well as on the family, friends etc. There will be rise in the
social understanding amongst them. The social maturity has various aspects of
social abilities as self-sufficiency, occupational activities, communication, self-direction
and social participation. (srjis ,

Social
maturity involves learning your own relationships more deeply. Understanding
plays a major role to determine social maturity. From the childhood till you
become adult in this lifespan you commit a lot of mistakes because of which
sometimes you tend to lose your best friend or the person close to you. After
you realise the outcome, you never make such mistake and mature enough to react
in a proper way. Learning from you past experiences is one of the main factors
which can build your social maturity. Social maturity is good when the person
can handle his/her responsibilities well. Social maturity is an important facet
for the individual in the society. The social maturity level differs from
person to person with respect to age, gender etc. ( Hira B. , 2013).
