The last 4 years of my career at Google allowed me to gain experience across wide variety of roles. I started as a consultant for AdWords for small and medium businesses, then moved on to project manage launch of official regional social media channels for Google and later worked on managing the operations of our outsourced partner in delivering outstanding customer experience. What I found to most driving for me was planning, organizing and supervising the provision of services to our customers and I plan to enter this industry by developing the requisite skill set and widening my knowledge with respect to operations and push on into a business leadership role. Right after completing my MBA, I hope to work in the industry of services management, more specifically, luxury goods/services management in India or other emerging markets, managing more of regional business operations. I hope to grow in this industry and get involved in managing the country level operations and eventually become the country head for the company. In this role, I will be called upon to set business expansion and development strategy. I will be required to successfully manage dozens of people, keep them motivated and guide them toward executing the strategy. To succeed as a Head of operations, however, I will need to acquire skills in analyzing global trends and quantitatively evaluating business expansion possibilities, amongst others. On one hand, I have gained some experience. On the other hand, I am still at the beginning of my career and believe that an MBA degree from a world-class business school such as ISB will help me mold an effective managerial style. In light of my long term goal, I’ll need to gain the strongest possible general management skills. The finance and operations foundations will compensate for my inexperience in these fields. The structured formal general management education I’ll acquire in ISB will broaden my view and give me the tools to leverage my experience and lead a business successfully. In a world which is growing ever flatter, I find international exposure and experience important for the global company I wish to work for. The global exposure that PGP at ISB offers will prove valuable in helping me understand other economies while also giving me the right exposure to developing economies.
