Why college education is important to me According to Manali Oak, “The first thing that strikes me about education is knowledge gain. Education gives us knowledge of the world around us. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us to build on opinions and have a point of view on things in life. People debate over the subject of whether education is the only thing that gives knowledge. Some say education is the process of gaining information about the surrounding world, while knowledge is something very different. They are right.
But then, information cannot be converted into knowledge without the catalyst called education. Education makes us capable of interpreting things rightly. It is not just about the lesson in the textbook. It is about the lessons of life. ” There are many reasons why college education is important to me. Growing up as a child, my mother did not have the financial resources to support four other kids, included myself. I could see how she struggled working through the night for minimum wages. However, I decided to the break the cycle of minimum wage, and strive for a college education.
Having a college education would give me the ability to provide shelter, food, and clothing for my family in a way my mom couldn’t. It would give me the financial resources to go on vacation, road trips, or even travel the world. Having a college education would give me the chance to give back to my community and to teach younger children the importance of staying in school and setting achievable goals for themselves. Another reason why college education is important to me is that it would allow me to explore every option available and open many doors of opportunity.
Higher education would give me the knowledge that I need to show prospective employers that I have the required skills for the position I am seeking in their companies. Having a college education would allow me to compete in society, to land me my dream job, and start making my dreams become reality. Having a college education will give me the tools and techniques to solve, and create solutions needed for fixing problems. A college education would also give me the edge in the job market over those who have not experienced a higher education.
I agree with Horace Mann, “A human being has not attained his full height until he is educated. ” Attaining my degree would represent success not only for me, but also for my family. Finally a college education is important to me, because it gives me the chance to be financially independent, to live on my own, and become a responsible person. A college education would show that I have the motivation to succeed in life and make something of myself. It would help me to be more open to different points of view.
Successfully completing college would show that I am very committed to getting things done. Obtaining a college education would help me as an individual to have more confidence in myself, and it would certainly enhance my mental capacity. Having a higher education would allow me to make a difference in the world, enlarge my circle of friends, and enable engage in their conversation with greater confidence. Without a college education my success in life would be greatly limited. It’s a well-known fact that many today people with a college degree have a difficult time finding a job in this economy.
However, knowing this does not lessen my motivation in perusing my degree, because I still believe in the American dream. I believe if I work hard in life and apply myself I can still achieve my goals. I also believe that in any given time the economy will bounce back and business will be hiring more than they are doing now. When that happens I want to be fully ready and able to compete with the best. This is what motivates and drives me to succeed academically. Bibliography Manali, Oak.
